Job Purpose: To provide administrative support to both a Senior Commissioning Editor and a Commissioning Editor.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to begin a career in academic publishing with a respected international publisher. We are looking for an Editorial Assistant to join our Editorial department and support the successful delivery of our publishing programme across a number of our Humanities and Social Science lists.
The role offers full training and excellent opportunities for development and progression as your publishing knowledge and responsibilities grow.
This is a full-time role with a starting salary of £24,000 per annum for a 35-hour week. We would ideally like the successful candidate to be based in our Martlesham (near Woodbridge) office or attend at least two days per week as part of a hybrid arrangement. However, remote working may be considered for exceptional candidates.
Duties will include:
Acting as a primary point of contact for authors and providing editorial and administrative support throughout the publishing process.
Supporting commissioning editors in managing publishing projects, schedules and peer review processes.
Preparing contracts, maintaining title records and ensuring publishing information is accurate and up to date.
Assisting with manuscript preparation, cover copy, permissions and other publication-related activities.
Working collaboratively with authors, academic partners and colleagues across the business.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Essential
An honours degree (or equivalent)
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
A professional and collaborative approach
An interest in academic publishing and scholarly communication
Desirable
General office experience
Previous publishing experience
Experience of databases or content management systems
Knowledge of the academic publishing environment
